A restaurant booking diary that shows the whole night at a glance

Every table, every booking and every walk-in on one timeline, colour-coded by status. Bookings from your website land in it on their own, and moving a party to another table takes one drag.

Included in every account. $1.25 per cover, no subscription.

An example service. The red line marks the time now; Ellis Rowe's booking is being dragged from table 4 to table 5.

One diary, wherever the booking came from

Bookings from the widget on your website and from your Make a Rezzy listing arrive in the diary on their own, day and night. Phone bookings and walk-ins go in the same place, so your team never checks two systems.

Online bookings are only offered when a table that fits the party is free, and your whole team sees the same diary on the web and in the mobile app: a live booking calendar for every table, updated the moment a booking comes in.

Your website
Guests book through the booking widget on your own site.
Your Make a Rezzy listing
Diners who find you on Make a Rezzy book without leaving the page.
The phone
Your team adds the booking in just two taps, and the best free table is suggested.
Walk-ins
Two taps: tap Walk-in, then Seat now, and they're on the best free table that fits.

Read the room without opening a booking

Each booking is a block on its table's row, between its start and end times. A glance tells you who's in, who's due and who's finished.

  • Status by colour

Green for confirmed, amber for pending, teal for seated and light green for completed. Cancellations and no-shows drop out of the timeline.

  • The details that matter

Each block shows the guest's name, party size and booking window, with a marker when there are allergies, special requests or notes.

  • Money on the booking

A label shows when a booking is paid, part paid, still owed, due on arrival or has a deposit to take off the bill.

Move a booking in one drag

When a table isn't right, the wrong size or too near the kitchen, change it without opening a form.

  • Up or down to change table

Drag the booking onto another table's and the booking is updated immediately.

  • Sideways to change time

Drag it left or right to move the booking to a new time on the same table.

  • From the edge to change length

Drag the right-hand edge to extend a long sitting or a private hire.

If a table is already booked at that time, the booking snaps back to where it was, so a drag can't create a double booking.

Moving on from a paper diary?

A paper diary works until the phone rings during service, two people write in the same slot, or someone books online at midnight. An online booking diary keeps every booking in one place your whole team can see, and remembers your guests for next time.

Every guest who books gets a profile in your guest CRM, and the live floor plan shows which tables are sat right now.

Bookings while you sleep
Guests book online at any hour, and the booking is waiting in the diary in the morning.
One diary for the whole team
Front of house, managers and the kitchen see the same bookings, on any device.
Guests remembered
Dietary needs, seating preferences and notes carry over to their next booking.

Questions about the booking diary

What is a restaurant booking diary?

It's where a restaurant keeps its reservations: who is coming, when, how many and at which table. An online booking diary does the same job as a paper one, but bookings from your website arrive in it on their own and your whole team sees the same diary on any device.

How is a booking diary different from a paper diary?

A paper diary holds tonight's bookings and nothing more. Next month you start a fresh page. A booking diary remembers your guests as well. Every booking builds a guest profile, so dietary needs, seating preferences and your team's notes carry over to the next booking, along with how many times they have been and when they last came in.

Can guests book online straight into the diary?

Yes. Bookings from the widget on your website and from your Make a Rezzy listing land in the diary alongside your phone bookings and walk-ins, so there is only one place to look.

Will it stop double bookings?

Online bookings are only offered when a table that fits the party is free at that time, and a booking can't be dragged onto a table that is already taken.

Can I use the diary on my phone or tablet?

Yes. The Make a Rezzy mobile app has the same diary, with quick ways to add a phone booking, and seating a walk-in is two taps: tap Walk-in, then Seat now.

How much does the booking diary cost?

Nothing extra. It's part of every Make a Rezzy account, which costs $1.25 per seated cover, capped at $125 a month, with no subscription.
