Restaurant deposits that stop no-shows costing you the table

Ask larger parties for a deposit when they book online. Refunds follow your cancellation policy on their own, no-shows keep the deposit with you, and every booking shows where its money stands.

Included in every account. $1.25 per cover, no subscription.

An example deposit rule. You set your own threshold, amount and window.

A deposit only when it matters

Set the party size that needs a deposit and the amount per guest, and Make a Rezzy asks for it when those guests book online. Smaller parties book straight through without paying anything.

Set once, in two fields
Minimum party size and deposit per guest, on your business settings.
Taken securely at booking
Guests pay on a secure Make a Rezzy payment page, then get the usual confirmation email.
Events and services too
Ticketed events and bookable services carry their own payment rules, with the same refund behaviour.

Refunds that follow your policy

Set a free cancellation window and Make a Rezzy handles the rest. Your team doesn't have to do anything when a guest cancels.

See the money on every booking

Wherever a booking appears, in the bookings list, the diary, the floor plan and the pre-shift brief, a label says where its money stands: paid, part paid, still owed, due on arrival or a deposit to take off the bill.

Filter the bookings list by payment state, and chasing what's unpaid takes one click.

Before service
The pre-shift brief totals what's still to collect and the deposits to credit against bills.
On the floor
A dot on a table flags money to collect or a deposit to take off the bill.

Fewer empty tables from no-shows

  • No-shows remembered

Marking a no-show adds it to the guest's profile, and repeat no-shows are flagged the next time they book.

  • Tables freed straight away

Cancel a booking and the table is released at once, with a cancellation email to the guest and your team.

  • Guests can cancel themselves

Guests with a Make a Rezzy account can cancel from their confirmation email, freeing the table without a phone call.

Questions about deposits and no-shows

How do restaurant deposits work in Make a Rezzy?

You set a party size and a deposit per guest. A booking that size or larger is asked to pay the deposit when the guest books online. With a $10 deposit from six guests, a party of eight pays $80 and a party of four pays nothing.

Is the deposit refunded if a guest cancels?

If they cancel inside your free cancellation window, the deposit is refunded in full automatically. After the window it stays with you, as your policy told the guest when they booked. You can still refund by hand as a goodwill gesture.

What happens to the deposit if a guest doesn't show?

It stays with you, and the no-show is added to the guest's profile so your team knows next time they book.

Do phone bookings ask for a deposit?

No. The deposit is only requested when a guest books online. For a phone booking, take payment another way and save it as confirmed, or hold it as pending while you sort it out.

Are deposits a paid add-on?

No. Deposits are included in every Make a Rezzy account, which costs $1.25 per seated cover, capped at $125 a month, with no subscription.
