Linking tables to services

Different services often want different tables. The bar might be open for booking in the evening but closed at lunchtime. The patio might be in play in the summer but not in the winter. Make a Rezzy handles this through floor plans and availability, working hand in hand.

The short version

There is no per-table, per-service tick-box in Make a Rezzy. What you do instead is:

  1. Design a floor plan for each layout you want to offer — for example, a "Lunch" plan and a "Dinner" plan, or a "Summer (patio open)" plan and a "Winter" plan.
  2. Set your availability so each time period is tied to the right plan.

When a guest tries to book, Make a Rezzy checks which plan is active at that time and only offers tables from that plan. Same rule applies when you take a booking by phone or as a walk-in.

Designing the plans

Start by building each layout under Manage Floor Plans. See Designing your floor plan for the full walk-through.

Linking a plan to an availability period

Plans become active through your Availability settings. Each availability template — for example, "Weekday lunch", "Friday dinner", or "Sunday roast service" — points at one floor plan. While that availability is in play, that plan is what drives bookings.

Setting this up lives outside the Floor Plans area itself. See Services and meal periods for how availability templates work, and how to point each one at the right plan.

What if a table is on more than one plan?

That is fine, and is the normal case for tables that are bookable most of the time. Each plan keeps its own copy of where the table sits on the canvas, but the table itself — its name, seats, shape — is shared across plans. Change "Table 4" from 4 seats to 6, and every plan that includes it updates.

What if a table is not on any plan?

It will not be bookable. The table still exists in the system and appears in the Unassigned Tables panel of the editor, but no availability is pointing at a plan that includes it, so the booking system will never offer it.

Useful for tables that are temporarily out of use — say, one that has been moved aside while you wait for a repair or replacement — without having to delete it.

Switching plans without changing availability

There is no "right now, swap to the other plan" button. If you want to change which plan is in use, change the availability that is in play. This can be used for one-off changes such as a private hires. To further control the schedule, use closing dates to block out specific days if the entire day needs to be blocked off for a private event.

See Closing dates and exceptions for the one-off route.
