Most Square sync hiccups come down to one of a few things: the connection, the table on the booking, or simply giving an update a moment to come through. Work through the matching section below.
No check opened on Square when I seated a guest
Check each of these in turn:
- Is Square still connected? Open Integrations and then Square — it should show as connected, with a location chosen. If it does not, disconnect and reconnect by following Connecting your account.
- Was the booking put on a table? A check only opens for a booking that is sat on a table. If the booking has no table, add one, save the booking as Confirmed and and seat it again by marking it Seated and saving.
- Was the booking actually marked Seated? The check opens at the moment you seat the guest. Confirming a booking on its own does not open a check.
The booking did not move to Completed when I closed the check
- Give it a moment. Closing usually comes through within moments, but if a live update is missed it can take a few minutes for the regular tidy-up to catch it.
- Was the booking still open? Only a booking that is still confirmed or seated is moved to Completed. A booking that was cancelled, or already marked Completed, is left as it is.
- Was it the right check? Only the check Make a Rezzy opened when you seated the guest is linked to the booking. A separate tab started on the till will not close the booking.
The check opened on the wrong till or location
A connection is tied to a single Square location. If checks are landing on the wrong one, the wrong location was chosen when connecting. Choose Disconnect on the Square page, then connect again and pick the location that belongs to this restaurant.
I have more than one restaurant
Connect each restaurant to its own Square location from its own Make a Rezzy business. One Make a Rezzy business links to one Square location, so each venue's checks stay on its own till.
