Campaigns let you send a one-off marketing email to your guests — a quiet-Tuesday offer, a seasonal menu, a we-miss-you note — straight from your guest list, with consent handled for you. This article covers writing a campaign, choosing who receives it, sending or scheduling it, and reading the results — plus the AI-powered campaign ideas and email drafting built in when you want a head start.
Where campaigns live
Open Campaigns in the sidebar. The page lists every campaign with its status: Draft while you are still writing, Scheduled when it is waiting for its send time, Sending while it goes out, Sent once done, and Cancelled if you called it off before it started.
AI campaign ideas
Not sure what to send? At the top of the Campaigns page, select Suggest ideas. Make a Rezzy's AI looks at your bookings — quiet weekdays, guests who haven't visited in a while, dates worth marking like Mother's Day or Bank Holiday Monday — and proposes campaigns, each with the reason behind it and a complete email already written. Because the ideas are grounded in your restaurant's own booking data, they come with real numbers, not generic marketing advice.
Select Open in composer on an idea you like and it arrives as an ordinary draft: the audience, subject, and email are filled in, and everything stays yours to edit. Some ideas arrive as an automation instead — a win-back email suits sending itself — and open in the automation composer the same way. Nothing is sent until you review and send it yourself.
Writing a campaign
- Select New campaign.
- Give it a name — only you see this; it identifies the campaign in your list.
- Write the subject line your guests will see.
- Optionally add a preview line — the short text an inbox shows next to the subject before the email is opened.
- Write the email as plain text, with a blank line between paragraphs. Make a Rezzy formats it into a clean email carrying your restaurant's name and branding, and adds the unsubscribe footer automatically.
- To greet each guest by name, select Insert guest's first name where you want the name to appear. You'll be asked what the email should say for guests whose name isn't on file — "there" works well, so the same line reads "Hi Maria," for one guest and "Hi there," for another. The preview lets you switch between both looks.
- Optionally add one photo, shown full width above your message.
- Optionally add a button — its text and the link it opens, for example your booking page.
- Finish with a sign-off. New campaigns start from the default set in your email branding, and you can change it for each campaign.
As you write, the preview alongside shows the email as your guests will receive it. You can save a draft at any point and come back to it later from the campaigns list.
Let AI write it for you
Facing a blank email? Select Write it for me above the message fields to have AI write your restaurant's marketing email. Tell it what the email should say — an offer, an occasion, a dish — or leave the box empty and it works from your restaurant's details and the audience you have chosen. Select Write a draft and a complete email comes back: subject, preview line, message, button, and sign-off.
The draft is shown to you first, the way an inbox would show it. Use this draft fills the fields in — everything stays editable — and Try again asks for a noticeably different take. Nothing you have already typed is touched until you choose to use a draft.
Email branding
Every campaign email is dressed in your restaurant's branding, which you set once under Marketing & Website → Email Branding in the sidebar. A live preview shows the effect of each choice as you make it:
- Logo — shown at the top of the email. Without one, your restaurant's name appears instead.
- Masthead — light, or a band of your colour. The coloured masthead shows your restaurant's name in white instead of the logo.
- Accent colour — colours the divider, the button, and the links in the email.
- Button shape — rounded, pill, or square.
- Default sign-off — the closing line new campaigns start with.
If you leave email branding untouched, campaigns use the standard design: your restaurant's name over a clean green-accented email.
Branding changes apply to campaigns you send from then on. A campaign that is already scheduled or sent keeps the look it had when you scheduled it.
Choosing who receives it
A campaign can go to all of your consented guests, to one of your saved segments, or to an audience you tune on the spot — by number of visits, by when guests last visited, or by tag. As you adjust the audience, the page shows a live count of how many guests would receive the email.
You can also describe the audience in your own words: select Describe who you want to reach, type something like "regulars we haven't seen in a couple of months", and select Suggest filters. The AI turns your description into guest filters, explained and with a count of how many guests match — and nothing applies until you select Use these filters, after which you can adjust them like any others.
Only guests who have opted in to marketing email are ever included — see Marketing consent for how that opt-in is captured. The consent check runs again at the moment of sending, so a guest who opts out between scheduling and sending is left out.
Sending and scheduling
Select Review & send to see the final picture: the subject, who the email comes from, where replies go, and how many guests it reaches. From there, send it straight away or schedule it for a date and time. Scheduled times are in your restaurant's local time, and we'll remind you if your display timezone is set to something different.
The email is sent from your restaurant's name, and replies go to your business email address, so a guest who hits reply reaches you — not Make a Rezzy.
A scheduled campaign can be cancelled any time before its send starts, from the campaign's page. Once sending has begun it cannot be stopped or edited.
Campaigns draw on your restaurant's monthly allowance of 1,000 marketing emails. If your audience is larger than what's left, the review step warns you before you send — see Monthly email allowance for how the limit works.
Marketing emails only go out while your Make a Rezzy account is active. If your account is paused, any scheduled campaigns and automation emails are held, and send automatically once your account is active again.
Unsubscribes
Every campaign email carries an unsubscribe link. A guest who uses it can stop emails from your restaurant, or from every restaurant that sends through Make a Rezzy. Either way their consent record updates immediately and they are excluded from future campaigns. These guests can opt back in by ticking the consent box next time they book.
Reading the results
Once a campaign has gone out, its page shows how many guests it was sent to, any addresses that could not be sent to, and how many guests unsubscribed. Delivery, open and click tracking is coming soon.
